Antarctica is the earth’s refrigerator. The ice-bound region has enough challenges for adventurers in terms of weather and terrain and at the same time has a lot to offer for nature lovers in terms of marine and terrestrial biodiversity. Shrenik visited Antarctica once in the year 2000 , 2017 and then again in 2022.
Twice as good for Shrenik wasn’t satisfing,a third time was a necessity who is both - an adventurer and nature lover. On these 20-day expedition to Antarctica Falkland and south georgia, he saw the icebergs, the colonies of penguins and seals, and the birdlife. Everything felt alive and thriving.
He was mesmerised. But the adventurer in him wanted something more. So, he decided to test the waters. With the experts on the ship, he was allowed to jump in the water for 45 seconds.
The beauty of the continent makes you a photographer too. That’s were Shrenik picked up tips of photography from experts who accompanied him to the tour. He took more than 2,200 pictures which were later exhibited at Bombay Natural History (BNHS) Mumbai under the title Frozen Frames to inspire people to visit the place. The exhibition also travelled to Pune and Bangalore.
This is what the true adventurers are made of: they can show their creativity in tangible ways and with stunning beauty to inspire others.
The plunge Shrenik took in the water was the defining moment of the
expedition that made him feel one with the region.
